392 Army Band – Concert on the Green

Her future's so bright, she's gotta wear shades...

Last night while Keith was off at Caveman Time, we girls set out for the Mostly Marches concert on the Village Green by the 392nd Army Band from Ft. Lee.

Kaitlyn and Kourey (kind of) ate a picnic dinner, while Auntie, Anja and Mommy tried not to get peanut butter, cheetos, chocolate milk, or lemonade spilled, smeared, or hugged onto us.  It was an uphill battle.

A breakout group from the main band – the Dixieland Combo calling themselves The James River Ramblers (at least last night) – really had the girls’ toes tapping as they decided it sounded like “The Princess and the Frog”.  That is a big complement, in case you didn’t know.

I think I caught Anja not texting for a few minutes there… that’s a big compliment, in case you didn’t know. 😉

One low point (for me, at least – everyone else seemed entertained) was when a passing bird got so excited by the sounds of Souza that it decided to poop on my head.

Unfortunately, this wasn’t even the first time I’ve had to deal with avian droppings; I got pegged by a pigeon in Piazzo San Marco on my honeymoon (my Italian was NOT up to explaining why I needed a napkin).  If the old wives tale about scat from the sky foreboding good luck is true, I’m golden. But couldn’t I just find some shiny pennies or four-leaf clovers?
