The weather on Saturday was perfect. Cool and crisp, with a warm sunshine and light breeze that let you know it was (finally!) fall. What better way to spend such a day than picking apples in the mountains?
Several of us from the Thirst No More Sunday school class went to Carter’s Mountain Orchard in Charlottesville. Between us we had 13 kids and 9 adults to head out for some Fujis, Winesaps and Pink Ladies.
After picking for a while we had a picnic lunch (complete with an apple orchard cake to celebrate Keith’s birthday!) and dispersed with our sacks of apples. A good bit of our fresh apples were cut and crocked into some delicious baked apples for Keith’s birthday dinner. Yum!
